Short CV
I am a Tenure-track Assistant Professor at the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering at Politecnico di Milano (Italy) and a Fulbright Fellow at the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Texas at Dallas (USA). In 2020, I earned my Ph.D. in Information Technology (Telecommunication area) cum laude from Politecnico di Milano. In 2018, I became a partner at SWAN Networks, a spin-off of Politecnico di Milano, where I contributed to developing advanced network orchestration and algorithms for SDN and SD-WAN-based networks. I joined the faculty at Politecnico di Milano as an Assistant Professor in 2022.
My current research focuses on edge network softwarization and the application of Machine Learning to communication networks. Specifically, I work on designing intelligent control and orchestration plane architectures for SDN and SD-WAN in multi-layer (optical and IP) network scenarios. I have actively contributed to several European projects, including H2020 Metro-Haul, NGI Atlantic, and FP7 Marie Curie MobileCloud. Additionally, I served as an editor for the ITU Focus Group on Machine Learning for Future Networks, including 5G (FG-ML5G).
With over 70 publications in leading international journals, conferences, and book chapters, my research primarily addresses Machine Learning for SDN, SD-WAN, and NFV. I regularly review for several prestigious journals and serve on the Technical Program Committee for conferences such as IEEE ICC and IEEE GLOBECOM. I have also been involved in the Organizing Committee for IEEE NetSoft, IEEE HPSR, NoF, DRCN, IFIP Networking, and others. I am the founder and co-organizer of the Edge Network Softwarization (ENS) workshop series, now in its 4th edition in conjunction with IEEE NetSoft 2025. In 2025, I was honored to receive the IEEE ComSoc EMEA Outstanding Young Researcher Award, a recognition of my contributions to the field of telecommunication networks.
